Im Jahre 1891 stiftete Fürst Johann II. von Liechtenstein der Gemäldegalerie der Gesellschaft Patriotischer Kunstfreunde das unsignierte, 1636 datierte Porträt einer jungen Frau mit Fächer (heute: Nationalgalerie Prag, Inv.nr. O 675). Trotz seiner künstlerischen Qualität und exzellenten Provenienz ist das Bildnis als Depotwerk der Forschung bislang nahezu unbekannt geblieben. Der vorliegende Aufsatz beschäftigt sich mit seiner ganz außerordentlichen Sammlungs- und Zuschreibungsgeschichte und untersuchtAnlass und Bedeutung des Porträtauftrages.

In 1891, Prince Johann II of Liechtenstein donated an unsigned Portrait of a young woman with a fan to the Picture Gallery of the Society of Patriotic Art Friends (now the National Gallery in Prague, Inv O 675). Despite its artistic quality and excellentprovenance, the portrait has so far remained largely unknown. The present text deals with its most extraordinary history in the collection as well as history of attribution and examines the cause and significance of the commission of the portrait.
