Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The catalog presents the work of the well-known and at the same time rediscovered Czech painter Toyen, who lived in France since 1947. The author's work is presented in the broader context of her activities (Devětsil group, Czechoslovak surrealist group, Paris surrealist group), in five chronological sections, named after the main work of the period: Coral Islands, Magnetic Woman, Hide away, War !, All Elements, New world of love. Each section begins with a detailed biography that demonstrates how closely is her work linked to the various stages of her life. In addition to chronological contextual studies, the texts deal with the fundamental thematic areas of her work, such as erotica, politics, spectacle, alchemy, analogy, book production. The authors of the catalog bring varied and mutually enriching approaches, whether they are not only art historians but also poets, contemporary witnesses, or various researchers. The book is supplemented by previously unpublished documents and correspondence. The rich visual accompaniment also includes a number of previously unpublished photographs of Toyen.
