Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The exhibition and print catalogue presents the best of the Old Masters permanent exhibition at the Sternberg Palace (the Old Masters II exhibition). This includes the unique collections of the NGP and its partners, such as the rare group of icons preserved in Prague that introduces the extraordinary collector Nikodem P. Kondakov. The database also makes accessible an exceptional group of Italian paintings of the 14th and 15th centuries, most of them collected by Archduke Franz Ferdinand. It is the largest collection of Italian “Primitives” preserved outside of Italy, and it allows viewers to follow the artistic production in the Italian cities of Siena, Florence, Venice, and Padua. An exclusive critical catalogue presents the collection, which opened at the Sternberg Palace in 2020. The authors outline the stories behind the most important works as well as their iconographic interpretations. The individual chapters of the chronologically arranged guide are prefaced by brief texts on their cultural history. The catalogue follows up on Old Masters I, a volume that includes works exhibited at the Schwarzenberg Palace since 2019.
