Catalogue was prepared in the context of the exhibition "The Story of Bohemian Glass”, prepared by the National Museum Prague in cooperation with the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague for the National Museum of Korea in Seoul (February 10th - April 26th 2015). The book is divided into seven chapters that maps the chronological development of Czech art glass from its beginnings to the present. Each chapter consists of an introductory texts from curators, followed by individual catalogue entries to displayed exhibits (total of 275 entries for 295 exhibits). They come mainly from the collections of the National Museum and the Museum of Decorative Arts, enriched by several other domestic loans. This is primarily glass objects - from beads and ornaments from the Iron Age, antique glass, the Great Moravian jewellery, gothic beakers and stained glass, renaissance painted glass and baroque crystal, through colors blazing glass and glass jewellery of the 19th century, rich shaped products of art nouveau and art deco period up to the demonstrations of postwar development of studio glass, including glass contemporary (Stanislav Libenský and Jaroslava Brychtová, René and Miluše Roubíček, Jiří Harcuba, Vladimír Kopecký, František Vízner and other artists). Glass objects complement the art collection objects which illustrate contemporary cultural and social development - examples of gothic panel painting, sculpture and liturgical textiles, renaissance and baroque prints, baroque religious objects, luxury jewellery, or porcelain of the 19th century. The book closes a pair of essays by main authors (Jana Kunešová and Milan Hlaveš) that deal with social, cultural, political and economic context of glass production. Book also includes a summarizing technology dictionary, footnotes and selection bibliography of foreign language on the issue.
