Methamphetamin (Crystal Meth) steht in Tschechien langfristig im Mittelpunkt der Drogenproblematik. Es gilt als Hauptdroge unter den problematischen (d.h. injizierend applizierenden) Drogenkonsumenten, und in den lezten Jahren hat es auch in der Ausgeh- und Partyszene Fuss gefasst. Der problematische Crystal-Meth-Konsum zieht in beträchtlichem Masse negative gesundheitliche und soziale Folgen sowie Kriminalität nach sich. Das Ausmass des Crystal-Meth-Konsums ist in der allgemeinen Population und unter der Jugend relativ niedrig. Drogenhilfedienste für Crystal-Meth-Konsumierende sind langfristig fest in das Drogenhilfesystem für Drogenkonsumenten integriert. Das tschechische Suchthilfesystem ist seit langem schwerpunktmässig auf Crystal-Meth-Konsumierende ausgerichtet. Die für diese Zielgruppe angewandten Behandlungsverfahren unterschieden sich im Wesentlichen nicht von denen, die z.B. für Heroin-Konsumierende angewendet werden. Eine Ausnahme bilden nur die Programme zur Verteilung von Gelatinekapseln als perorale Alternative zur injizierenden Applikationsform oder die Substitutionsbehandlung. Während sich die substitutionsgestützte Behandlung bei Konsumenten von Opioiden zu einem Grundbestandteil des angebotenen Dienstleistungsspektrums entwickelt hat, wird sie bei Crystal-Meth-Konsumierenden nur in Ausnahmefällen als sog. &quot;off-label-Therapie&quot; angewandt.

Methamphetamine (pervitin) has been in the centre of drug problem in the Czech Republic for decades and as regards the extent of use, the Czech Republic (together with Slovakia) has a unique position in Europe. Methamphetamine has been present in the Czech Republic since 1970´s in the context of problem drug use, it has benn mainly used by injection. Since 2000´s, pervitin has been used also recreationally, in the context of nightlife settings. The prevalence of methamphetamine use in the general (adult) population, as well as adolescents, has stayed relatively low, while problem use has been a cause of several health and social consequences including criminality. Services for methamphetamine users are a part of the addiction treatment system in the Czech Republic, methamphetamine users create the main target group among problem drug users. Compared to opioids users, there are few specific interventions targeted at methamphetamine users, such as distribution of gelatine capsules that aims to diminish injection as the main route of application of methamhetamine. Substitution treatment of methamphetamine users based on central stimulants is offered exceptionally, being regarded as non-standard treatment intervention out of the scope of supported indications.
