This is a review of the book released by the Czech National Committee of Geodesy and Geophysics on the occasion of Professor Milan Burša?s 80th birthday. The jubilee provided the opportunity to reflect on tremendous accomplishment of M. Burša in the field of geodesy and astronomy, on his life and also on his active and many-sided involvement in the international scientific cooperation, particularly in the International Association of Geodesy. The editorial initiative of the Czech National Committee wasstrongly supported by the community, colleagues and friends representing domestic scientific institutions, which in the Czech Republic are connected with the work of M. Burša and also by leading geodesists, geoscientists, astronomers, university teachersand colleagues abroad. The book contains 24 contributions written by 37 authors from 10 countries (Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Russia, Slovak Republic, Spain, Ukraine and USA).
