Carbon Dioxide Geological Storage Potential of Deep Saline Aquifers of the Central Bohemian Upper Palaeozoic Basin, Czech Republic. POSTER - 70th EAGE Conference & Exhibition incorporating SPE europec 2008, 9-12 June 2008, Nuova Fiera di Roma
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) - a tool for reduction of greenhouse gas content in the atmosphere and thus for climate change mitigation - appeared as an important research & development topic in the new EU Member States and Associated Candidate Countries, incl. the Czech Republic. The Central Bohemian Upper Palaeozoic Basin (CBUPB) study presented here, focused on areas of the Žatec, of the NW part of the Roudnice, and of the Mnichovohradiště Basin. Upper Palaeozoic fill of these sub-basins is overlied by Cretaceous and Tertiary sedimentary rocks and saline aquifers are situated at sufficient depths. The NW part of the Roudnice Basin is subject of contemporaneous research. Assessment of potential for CO2 geological storage in Žatec and Mnichovohradišťě Basin is presented in this paper.
