Multidisciplinary research on the Berriasian peri-reefal limestones in Štramberk (Outer Western Carpathians, Czech Republic)
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A high-resolution study of two sections of the Kotouč Quarry in Štramberk resulted in an integrated stratigraphy and palaeoenvironmental analysis of the peri-reefal Štramberk Limestone. The calpionellids of the Alpina and Ferasini subzones of the standard Calpionella Zone confirm the Early Berriasian age for both studied sections. The presence of calcareous nannofossils Nannoconus kamptneri minor and fragments of Speetonia colligata supports this classification. An ammonite assemblage with Pseudosubplanites grandis was documented in the higher part of the lower Berriasian (Grandis Subzone). Foraminifers were studied in closer detail for the first time. Magnetostratigraphy verified that the studied sections span the magnetozones from M18r to M18n. Rock magnetic measurements indicate the presence of magnetite (carrier of characteristic remanent magnetisation) and goethite. The overall palaeolatitude suggests a 33°N position. The standard microfacies recognised in the studied sections indicate the palaeoenvironments of slope (FZ 4), platform margin reefs, sand shoals (FZ 5, FZ 6) and possibly patch-reefs in the inner platform (FZ 7). Frequent local discoveries of calpionellids and polychaete Terebella lapilloides suggest deposition within deeper parts of the outer ramp of the platform slope with redeposited clasts derived from reefs (talus).
