The concept of diamond prospectivity (proximity) is based on the empirical evaluation of a series of geological processes (events) during the tectonothermal history of the Archaean cratons. They can be classified into lithospheric keel-friendly and destructive events. These data can be combined with geophysical and geochemical surveys to provide a 3-D picture of the composition, structure and thermal state of the lower crust and upper mantle. If a minimum time of 1 Ga for development or rehabilitation of the lithospheric diamondiferous profile is required then differential role of the individual events for occurrence of diamonds and their carriers – kimberlites – on the Earth’s surface can be assessed in four dimensions (time as well as space). The individual tectonothermal events are defined by a series of critical parameters which can be measured, inferred or calculated by their proximity (vertical or lateral) and/or timing to the related kimberlite extrusions. The sum interference of the fifteen diamond prospectivity parameters representing the major tectonothermal events parameters has been calculated using graphical Fuzzy-Logic methods. Diamond prospectivity maps of the Slave Craton has been used as a reference diamond proximity model to test the degree of diamond prospectivity of the Peninsular India and Yilgarn Craton and delineate the most prospective target areas for further follow up Peninsular India and Yilgarn Craton. Diamond prospectivity maps of the Slave, India and Yilgarn Cratons summarise the lateral extent, size and location of the inferred diamondiferous lithospheric keels (keel roots) below the craton.
