Changes in clay mineralogy of ploughed and unploughed topsoils - poster - MECC Conference
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The mineralogy of topsoil (0-5 cm) of the long-term small plot field experiments with crop rotation and different soil tillagepractices was studied at Žabčice locality. The experiment was established in 2004 on a gley Fluvisol.Treatments included the combinations of winter wheat (WW) after alfalfa and spring barley (SB) after sugar beetwith ploughing (P) or unploughing (UP) practices. The site Žabčice is located 25 km south of Brno (altitude 179 m a. s. l.)with an average annual temperature of 9,2 °C and an average annual rainfall of 480 mm.All plots of the experiment was fertilised with potassium chloride and with superphosphate.Mineralogy of <2 mm fraction:• Reflects the Fulvisol type.• Minerals sorted by flow.• With increasing clay fractiona) the content of phyllosilicates increase (muscovite, kaolinite),b) the amount of feldspars decrease (plagioclases).Mineralogy of clay fraction:With ploughing, sampling in the topsoil layer (0-5 cm)a) the proportion of illite layers decrease, and ex. K decrease (<2 mm), +b) the proportion of smectite layers increase, and ex. Ca increase (<2 mm), 2+c) the proportions of kaolinite and chlorite layers remained unchanged.• Crop rotation did not affect clay mineralogy.
