The meeting presented the main results of the SIEG in 2023 as presented in the report to the General Assembly of the EuroGeoSurveys. The highest priority was given to the development of EGDI, which is very closely linked to the progress of the WP7 Geological Service for Europe (HE) project. Information was given on the main outcomes of the EuroGeoSurveys Expert Group Chairs meeting and the National Delegates Forum. The changing role of EGS Expert Groups and the possibilities to link them to the political agenda were discussed. Participants were informed about the establishment of the Network of National Metadata Coordinators and its function. Other EGDI governance issues such as the Rovaniemi accord and other strategic issues were also discussed. The progress of EGDI in relation to EPOS was presented.
