Working from home in the Czech Republic after COVID-19: trends and comparisons
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This article examines the evolution of working from home (WFH) in the Czech Republic after the COVID-19 pandemic, analysing trends and comparing them with Germany and other European Union countries. Before the pandemic, WFH was uncommon in the Czech Republic after the COVID-19 pandemic, analysing trends and comparing them with Germany and other European Union countries. Before the pandemic, WFH was uncommon in the Czech Republic, with only 4.6% of employees working remotely in 2019. The pandemic increasedthis proportion to 7.2% in 2020, though this rise was less pronounced than in Germany and the EU average. Post-pandemic, the percentage slightly decreased but remained above pre-pandemic levels. The article also discusses how WFH affects long working hours and work during evenings and weekends, concluding that while WFH can blur work-life boundaries for some, leading to longer hours, it can enhance balance for others. WFH is likely to remain significant in the Czech labour market, and employer support and appropriate policies are crucial for fostering a resilient workforce.
