Influence of sulfur on growth of radish
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The effects of different nitrogen and sulfur fertilisers (ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, sodium sulfate and ammonium chloride) and their interactive effects on growth of shoots and bulbs of radish (Raphanus sativus, var. radicula) were investigated.Fertilizers were applied into the soil before sawing, plants were grown in constant cultivation conditions in growth chambers. Single N stimulated shoot growth and inhibited bulb formation mainly at high application rates of fertilisers. Sulfur, on thecontrary to nitrogen, had significantly higher impact on bulb growth. Simultaneous application of N and S had a clear interactive effect on growth of plants, especially on that of bulbs. Even in cultivar less responding to S fertilisation, an increase ofbulbs weight reached up to 60%. Total concentration of N compounds in bulbs increased significantly with the doses of N fertilisers, addition of S supply had opposite effect. Sulfur application enhanced content of cysteine in bulbs, but
