Ecology of Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV) and contribution to its epidemiology in the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The Zucchini Yellow Mosaic Virus (ZYMV) was first described in 1991 (Chod and Jokeš, 1991) in the Czechoslovakia. The virus infects different plants from the family Cucurbitaceae. During the last few years, the infection spread into districts: Břeclav, Znojmo, Brno-country and Hodonín. It was tested transmissibility of ZYMV by seeds of cucumbers and pumpkins obtained from plants infected by ZYMV. Altogether 257 plants were tested and the successful transmission of ZYMV was not detected. The possibilityof overwintering of the virus in plant remnants in a soil was examined. We collected plant remnants from cucumbers artificially infected by ZYMV and the soil, where they were grown. Gherkins were sown into this mixture. All 37 growing plants were withoutviral symptoms and ELISA did not confirm the presence of ZYMV. We also investigated the effectiveness of the aphid transmission by Myzus persicae. The effectiveness was 44 % when a single aphid was used for the transmission. The transmis
