Evaluation of soil productivity and sustainability of farming systems in temperate climate zone is a rather complicated problem. The most frequent criterion of soil productivity is the yield of the main product. Due to the variability of climate conditions, there are relatively high differences in the yields of cultivated crop in individual years. For this reason, the long-term field experiments conducted in different soil and climate conditions are especially valuable. The long-term records in the databases of the experiments and mainly the long-term changes in the soil properties in individual plots are of an invaluable for the determination of productivity and sustainability of the land use in the specific soil and climate conditions. Some of the results the long-term field experiments in Prague and the way of their evaluation are presented in this paper.
