The response to natural and artificial Fusarium spp. infection was studied under field conditions in 31 winter wheat varieties registered in the Czech Republic. Great attention was paid to relations between Fusarium head blight (FHB) incidences and accumulation of deoxynivalenol in different conditions. Though DON content obtained after natural and artificial infection was significantly interrelated, the obtained results mainly indicated importance of simultaneous evaluation of FHB resistance under bothconditions. It is important that moderate resistance to FHB was detected by both methods in the newly registered Czech varieties Simila and Sakura, and also in the variety Alana (which resistance was checked in agricultural practice).
