Influence of seed quality on the root growth and development

Quality of the roots is necessary presumption for quality of the seeds at the majority of the field crops.This relation is also valid vice versa- the seed has positive influence on the root growth and development. Cultivar environmental conditions(=provenance), especially drought and high temeperature affect basic metabolic pathways, chemical composition of seeds, seed traits and traits of rootlets of sprouting plants. These changes of the seeds are connected with efficiency of water utilisation and especially with development of the root system. The basic aim of presented work was analysis of influence of seed traits on the root development of oilseed rape cultivars, wheat cultivars grass cultivars at different localities. The obtained results show relatively large influence of seed traits on the root development. The genotypes with good germination under unfavourable conditions develop larger root system i.e. volume, length deep of penetration of the roots after sowing and also durin
