The effect of site characteristics and farming practices on soil organic matter in long-term field experiments in the Czech Republic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Total organic carbon, hot water extractable carbon, hydrophobic and hydrophilic components and soil hydrophobicity were determined in soil samples, taken from selected plots of thirteen field experiments pursued in different soil and climatic conditionsin the period of 2004-2008. Four variants in each experiment were selected: non-fertilized control, mineral fertilized variant, farmyard manured variant and organic and mineral fertilized variant. TOC and HWC content in topsoil differed mainly as a result of the site conditions. Both the organic and mineral fertilization increased the TOC content in soil; percentage increase of the HWC content was greater than that for the TOC content. Mineral and organic fertilization increased the content of hydrophobic organic components but did not increase the content of hydrophilic organic components in the soil.
