The effect of application of organic manures and mineral fertilizers on the state of soil’s organic matter and nutrients in the long-term field experiment
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Presented study evaluates soil properties (the value of pH, SOM content, and concentration of available nutrients) in two time periods (1983-1992 and 2001-2010) of a long-term fertilizer experiment, established in Prague-Ruzyně in 1955. The crop rotation of the long-term experiment consists of cereals (45%), root crops (33%) and legumes (22%). The experiment analyzes a long-term effect of 24 different fertilizer treatments, including organic manures (farm-yard manure, animal slurries), mineral NPK. The experiment’s soil is modal brown soil and the altitude is 340-360 MASL. The average annual temperature was 8.5°C and annual precipitation was 485 mm between the years 1965-2015. Preliminary results show a rapid pH value decrease in mineral NPK, slurry treatments, compared to unfertilized Control and farm-yard manure treatments. Between the years 2001-2010, the application of NPK and farm-yard manure resulted in the highest content of SOM (2.3-2.5%) and this increase was statistically significantly higher than in the previous evaluated time period (1983-1992). The concentration of phosphorus and potassium was equal in the both time periods and highest concentrations were recorded in NPK. In the unfertilized Control treatment, we recorded a rapid decrease of the phosphorus content from 1961 to 2010. On the other hand, the concentration of the potassium slightly increased in the same time period. The main result of the study is a synthesis of knowledge and practical recommendations for a sustainable soil and organic matter management in the arable lands, with the relation to food security (yields and quality) and to increase the adaptation potential of soil in relation to assumed and predicted climate changes. This paper is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic project ČR-RO0416 and by H2020-SFS-2015-2 no. 677407 “SOILCARE”.
