Effect of caprylic acid on growth and mortality of young rabbits
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Two experiments were carried out to assess the effect of caprylic acid on growth, feed conversion and mortality of rabbits. In the first experiment, 126 weaned Hyla 2000 rabbits were assigned to one of three dietary treatments at the age of 35 days, andfed a granulated feed supplemented with 0 (1st group), 0.2 (2nd group) and 0.5% caprylic acid (3rd group). All feed mixtures contained Robenidin (67 mg/kg). The experiment lasted 42 days. The second trial was carried out on another farm. One hundred andndred and sixty-two weaned Hyplus rabbits, 35 days old at the beginning of the trial, were assigned to one of three dietary treatments, as described above. Diclazuril (1 mg/kg) was used as a coccidiostat in this experiment. Caprylic acid had no effect onperformance of rabbits in our experiments but decreased mortality of young rabbits. Its effect, however, was statistically significant only in a rabbitry with lower standard of animal hygiene.
