Possible explanations of hysteresis at hydraulic characteristics in pipes
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Hysteresis observed at repeated loading/unloading cycles when measuring mechanical properties may be a manifestation of genuine material characteristics but it can be also an instrumentation artefact. This article was motivated by observed hysteresis ofa hydraulic characteristic in pumping a native polymeric material through a pipe at a gradually increasing and decreasing flowrate. The system was without recirculation and the same fresh liquid was pumped into the pipeline during increasing/decreasing phase, nevertheless the recorded pressure drop during the increasing phase was greater than the pressure at decreasing phase at the same flowrate. A possible explanation can be based upon the temperature dependent viscosity: during the flowrate ascendingphase the test pipe is filled by a colder liquid corresponding to previous less intensive viscous heating (therefore viscosity and pressure drop is greater then during the subsequent phase of decreasing flowrate). Another possibility is t
