Palaeolithic and Mesolithic of the Czech Lands (Moravia and Bohemia) in the European context
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A synthesis of the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic prehistory of the Czech lands. The first traces of human presence can be dated more than 600 ky BP and were found on the Červený kopec hill near Brno. The richest stratigraphy of the Middle Palaeolithic was documented in the Kůlna Cave and in the Bečov I site in NW Bohemia. During the Early Upper Palaeolithic 3 diíffrent cultures were present, Szeletian, Bohunician, and Aurignacian (with human remains in the Mladeč Cave). Middle stage of Upper Pal. is well known thanks to the large sites of mammoth hunters (Gravettian-Pavlovian) and the late phase by the engravings from the Pekárna cave and from some sites in Bohemian Karst. In the Mesolithic, the rock dwellings in Northern Bohemia and the moravian megasite of Smolín is the most important, as well as the large chert mining ián the Krumlovský les.
