Do činnosti spolku Brünner Philharmoniker zasáhla podstatně první světová válka. Krize německého operního souboru ovlivnila pomalý návrat orchestru na koncertní pódia. Pravidelnou činnost spolku se podařilo obnovit roku 1922 ve spolupráci se spolkem Brünner Musikverein pod vedením dirigenta brněnské německé opery Julia Kataye. Od sezóny 1924/1925 do roku 1938 pořádali Brněnští filharmonikové vlastní řadu abonentních koncertů. Tyto koncerty Brněnských filharmoniků, do nichž spolek zval věhlasné zahraniční (většinou německé) sólisty a dirigenty, znamenaly obohacení kulturního života meziválečného Brna. Analýza uváděného repertoáru ukázala, že zvláště od 30. let převládal v dramaturgii spolku konzervativismus, jenž byl dán jak snahami brněnských Němců po uchování si vlastní národní identity, tak resentimentem po roce 1918 a reminiscencemi na dobu rozkvětu před 1. světovou válkou. V roce 1938 spolek začal sympatizovat s národoveckou Německou divadelní obcí, jeho činnost však kvůli napjaté politické situaci po Mnichovské dohodě musela přerušena. Činnost Brněnských filharmoniků se uzavřela záhy po začátku německé okupace Československa roku 1939.

The First World War had a great impact on the activity of the Brünner Philharmoniker association. The crisis of the German opera troupe was influenced by the slow return of the orchestra to the concert podium. The regular activity of the association was successfully renewed in the year 1922 in cooperation with the Brünner Musikverein association under the leadership of the conductor of the Brno German opera Julius Katay. The Brünner Philharmoniker organised their own subscription concerts from the seasons 1924/25 up to the year 1938. These concerts by the Brno philharmonic orchestras, into which the association invited renowned foreign (usually German) soloists and conductors, amounted to an enriching of the cultural life of interwar Brno. An analysis of the presented repertoire demonstrated that conservatism prevailed in the dramaturgy of the association in particular in the 1930s, this being a result of efforts on the part of Brno Germans to preserve their own national identity, as well as due to ressentiment after the year 1918 and reminisces about the period of prosperity prior to the First World War. The association began to sympathise with the nationalist German theatre community in the year 1938, the activities of which had to be interrupted due to the tense political situation after the Munich Agreement. The activities of the Brünner Philharmoniker came to a sudden end after the beginning of the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in the year 1939.
