The study contains findings from more than fifteen years of existence of the outdoor archaeological museum in Modrá near Velehrad in Moravia. The focus of the study is on the wooden structural elements used in the construction of fortifications and, above all, their lifespan, i.e. the length of time they remained functional. At the same time, the study presents the construction methods of new wooden buildings built in Modrá and also in Bojná in Slovakia, it is also an issue affecting the so-called experimental archaeology.
