The ILLUMInations catalogue of the 54th International Biennial in Venice 2011 with an introduction by Paolo Baratta and essays by Carolin Bolmann, Bice Curiger, Giovanni Carmine, Diedrich Diederichsen, Karl Holmqvist, Jean-Luc Nancy, Reza Negarestani, Jörg Scheller, Tommaso Tuppini, Corinne Wasmuht and Beat Wyss also includes texts by the curators and commissioners from the different national pavilions. The Czech and Slovak Republics were represented by the artist Dominik Lang with his exhibition project The Sleeping City. The text in the catalogue is a brief summary of the artist?s concept, who through his project opened up a number of issues regarding the different aspects of viewing our own past, the selected methods of its reading, the possibilities and limits of its reconstruction, and the related problem of retro identification and classification. Dominik Lang created a hypothetical model of an exhibition in which he emancipated the complicated configurations of objects, artefact
