The destiny of an artist of his age : Painter and photographer Joseph Haier (1816-1891) between Vienna, Munich and Brno
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The research project provides the very first complex overview of the life and work of the painter and photographer Joseph Haier (1816–1891), who lived and worked in Vienna (Austria), Munich (Bavaria) and Brno (Moravia). In addition to clarifying basic biographical details, it offers a detailed account of his studies at the Academies of Fine Arts in Vienna (1830–1840) and Munich (1844–1845), based on the presentation and partial analysis of his drawing estate in the Moravian Gallery in Brno, which comprises around 45 drawings. The study also reflects on his rather unsuccessful attempts to establish himself in the contemporary art scene and secure prosperity for himself and his family, including his temporary engagement with the emerging medium of photography.
