Kolektivní monografie Muzea a regionální historie je určena pracovníkům sbírkotvorných a paměťových institucí i širší veřejnost. Zahrnuje zkušenosti tří desítek historiků z moravských a slezských muzeí, rozdělené do sedmi tematických oddílů. Ty jsou věnovány nejčastějším problémům, s nimiž se muzejní historici v posledních desetiletích opakovaně potýkají, a jejich možným řešením. Většina autorů je členy Komise regionální historie Moravy a Slezska AMG ČR, která už dvacet let úspěšně mapuje a koordinuje práci muzejních historiků v tomto regionu. Proto publikaci otevírá oddíl věnovaný historii této komise. Následují oddíly věnované sbírkotvorné činnosti v muzeích, specifikům muzejního zpracování regionální historie, vztahům muzeí s ostatními paměťovými institucemi v regionu, práci s veřejností, práci s národnostními menšinami a zahraniční spolupráci a moderním technologiím v muzeích. Publikaci vydaly společně dvě větší muzea – Technické muzeum v Brně a Moravské zemské muzeum.

The collective monograph Museums and Regional History is intended for the staff of collection and memory institutions and the general public. It includes the experience of three dozen historians from Moravian and Silesian museums, divided into seven thematic sections. These are devoted to the most common problems that museum historians have repeatedly encountered in recent decades and their possible solutions. Most of the authors are members of the Commission for Regional History of Moravia and Silesia of the AMG CR, which has been successfully mapping and coordinating the work of museum historians in this region for twenty years. Therefore, the publication opens with a section devoted to the history of this commission. This is followed by sections devoted to collection-building activities in museums, the specifics of museum processing of regional history, relations between museums and other memory institutions in the region, work with the public, work with national minorities and foreign cooperation, and modern technologies in museums. The publication was published jointly by two major museums - the Technical Museum in Brno and the Moravian Museum.
