General View on Current Possibilities of Home Measurement of Blood Glucose for Patients with Diabetes Mellitus
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A chronic metabolic disease that affects mainly metabolism of carbohydrates is collectively called diabetes mellitus. The disease manifests itself mainly in the inability of organism to keep the blood glucose level within the standard range. This bringshealth hazards for the patient as the higher concentration of glucose is "toxic" for the body. Long term action can lead to damage of some organs as well as to their failure. The number of patients with this disease increases every year. The World HealthOrganization states the amount of patients with diabetes mellitus of 382 million worldwide for the year 2013. This number could reach 439 million [1] in 2030 according to some predictions. The increase in diabetic diseases brings besides the reduced quality of life of patients an increase in financial costs to the national health systems. The relevant health authority makes effort to minimize the impact of the disease for the patient and the system itself.
