Die Verfasser verstehen František Palacký als einen historischen Erinnerungsort im Sinne von Pierre Nora, d. h. unter Verweis auf Tatsachen, die immer wieder auf symbolischer Ebene an ihn zu erinnern in der Lage sind. Sie konzentrieren sich auf die Nationalfeierlichkeiten im Jahre 1898, u. auf seine Abbildung auf tschechoslowakischen u. tschechischen Banknoten (1934, 1993). Ein besonders positiver Beitrag dieser Studie besteht darin, dass sie an die Plackýs Persönlichkeit auf Briefmarken zu dessen Jubiläum (1948, 1998) erinnern. Am Schluss stellen die Autoren fest, dass sein mythologischer Beiname - "Vater der Nation" - in unterschiedlichen Peripetien der böhmisch/tschechischen Geschichte wahrhaft unglaubliche Lebensfähigkeit unter Beweis stellen.

The Authors regard František Palacký as a memory site within the meaning of Pierre Nora, i. e. with reference to the facts which are able to call him to mind again on the symbolic plane. They principally focus on the national festivals in 1898 and his portrayal on Czechoslovak and Czech banknotes (1934, 1993). A special merit of their study lies in the anniversary of Palacký on postage stamps (1848, 1998). In conclusion they observe that mythological epithet - "Father of the Nation" - displays in diverse peripateias of Modern Czech history a trully uncommon longevity.
