Efforts to the professional bibliographic monitoring of literature in the Šumava Mountains and its foothills (The Pošumaví Region) fall in the Czech environment into the second half of the 20th century and correspond with the foundation of Nature ReserveŠumava (established 1963). Previous attempts have been fragmented, in addition to attempts at centre, to writing titles dedicated to particular sites (museums activities), to the relevant administrative departments (Plzeň Region, České Budějovice Region, West Bohemia Region, South Bohemian Region), various periodicals (where, however, the Šumava Mountains played only a secondary role) and, where relevant, to individual scientific disciplines. German environment expressed an increased interest in the bibliographic records based on demande of displaced people, who were interested in the history of their lost fatherland.
