Der Beitrag konzentriert sich auf die Haltungen der Dominien zu den konstitutionellen Fragen im Rahmen des Britischen Empire in den Jahren 1917-1926. Er analysiert die Entwicklung dieser Fragen während der Reihe der wichtigen Ereignisse - der Empirekriegskonferenz im Jahr 1917, der Friedenskonferenz in Paris, wo die Dominien eine wichtige Rolle spielten, der Vollendung des Smuts' Memorandum aus dem Jahr 1921, der nachfolgenden Ereignisse (die Chanakkrise, der kanadisch-amerikanische Fischereivertrag, der Vertrag von Lausanne und der Locarnopakt), die die Beziehungen zwischen den Dominien und Großbritannien wesentlich beeinflussten, und des Balfour-Berichtes, der auf der Empirekonferenz im Jahr 1926 angenommen war.

The present study focuses on the attitudes of the Dominions to the institutional and constitutional matters of the British Empire between the years 1917-1926. The article analyses the development of the question throughout a series of important events, starting from the War Imperial Conference of 1917 and the Paris peace talks in which the Dominions took a considerable part, through the completion of the Smuts Memorandum from 1921 and the subsequent events such as the Chanak Crisis, the Halibut Treaty,Lausanne and Locarno which affected considerably the relations between the Dominions and Great Britain, completing the view with a spotlight on the Balfour Declaration, adopted at the 1926 Imperial Conference.
