The chapter surveys the preaching of the Cross against the heretics in Bohemia in 1420-31. After sketching the legatine activity in Central Europe, it offers two case studies. The first concerns the abortive preaching mission of Gerhard Bandschnieder inPrussia and focuses on conflicting jurisdictions and local power constellation. The other concerns crusading sermons preached by Oswald Reinlein in Vienna in 1426 and focuses on the duration and rhythm of a preaching campaign.
