Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The popularizing article published for general audience on the internet summarizes the results of a historical research on Afghan communist politician Babrak Karmal's stay in Czechoslovakia in 1978-1979. The ambassador-turned-fugitive stayed in Czechoslovakia under special protection by the communist party's central committee (UV KSC) and the country's secret police (StB). In late 1979, the Soviets transported Karmal to Moscow and installed him as new president of Afghanistan. The so-far most comprehensive research into this chapter of history took into account earlier publications but was mainly based on archive documents and interviews with witnesses. The languages utilized in the research process were Czech, Slovak, English, Russian, and Afghan Persian (Dari).
