Dieser Artikel zeigt anhand der Analyse von Parteizeitschriften und Archivalien, wie deutsche und tschechische KommunistInnen in der Tschechoslowakei die mittelalterliche Hussitentradition zwischen den Jahren 1921 und 1945 rezipierten. Demnach wurde die Entwicklung der Geschichtspolitik der Kommunistischen Partei in einem multiethnischen Staat analysiert, die nicht nur in der Moskauer Zentrale bestimmt wurde, sondern auch an lokale Traditionen anknüpfte. Der Beitrag ist damit auch ein Fallbeispiel für den Widerspruch zwischen Nationalismus und Internationalismus in der Arbeiterbewegung.

This article analyses party journals and archival documents to show how between the years 1921 and 1945 German and Czech Communists in Czechoslovakia perceived the medieval Hussite tradition. It then analyses the development of the Communist Party&apos;s politics of memory in a multi-ethnic state, which was required to adhere both to those of the Moscow headquarters and to local traditions. The article is thus also a case study of the contradiction between nationalism and internationalism in the labour movement.
