Antike Mythologie wurde nur relativ selten in den Schuldramen der Jesuiten aufgegriffen. In diesem Kapitel werden zwei aus der böhmischen Jesuitenprovinz stammende dramatische Bearbeitungen des Mythos von Atalanta der zweiten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts vorgestellt und stoff- sowie theatergeschichtlich kontextualisitiert: der Chorus nach dem IV. Akt des Katharinenspiels "Costis sive Catharis Parthenomartyr Alexandrina" von Arnold Engel, und das Spiel "Atalanta ... sive India" von Heinrich Richter, das seine ganze Struktur dem mythologischen Stoff entnimmt.

Ancient mythology was taken up only relatively rarely in the school dramas of the Jesuits. In this chapter, two dramatic adaptations of the myth of Atalanta of the second half of the 17th century from the Bohemian Jesuit province are presented and contextualised in literary and theatrical history: the chorus after Act IV of the play "Costis Catharis Parthenomartyr Alexandrina" by Arnold Engel, and the play "Atalanta ... sive India" by Heinrich Richter, which takes its entire structure from the mythological material.
