The text from the contribution to the international conference describes the life of the first professor of pedagogy and philosophy at the Czech University after the division of Charles University in 1882. G.A. Lindner not only had a difficult life, but was very active in publishing; he was the first to establish sociology and psychology as the foundations of modern pedagogy. The text contains the publication of articles and textbooks, the subjects taught and his election as the director of the pedagogical institute and his appointment as professor of philosophy and pedagogy at the newly formed Czech university. His legacy influenced the multidimensional concept of the teaching profession and university preparation for a teaching career; he shaped the scientific profile of the Department of Education at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University.
