In 2020-2021, pollen spectra were obtained from the Býčí skála Cave. The profile from the Hallstatt period (575-450 BC) is not contaminated by older or younger activities. The profile in the cave was formed by burial activities, especially elite burials. The spectra of the pollens, when compared with other contexts, most closely resemble known spectra from Bronze Age and Hallstatt period vessel fills, differ from settlement finds and do not reflect the surrounding landscape. A spectrum of grassland herbaceous species predominates. Burial times point to the summer months. Pollen was a content of grave goods, it was a flower or part of foodstuffs and may also have been contaminated by human movement. The predominant species present are entomogamous. The presence of an anemogamous species (Artemisia) indicates an alcoholic beverage, such as beer. Recent sampling of the cave has shown that pollen does not spontaneously fly into the cave today, nor are bats carrying it.
