From Homeric Legends to Bronze Age Realities. Changing Research Perspectives on Troy and Western Anatolia
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Although the excavations of Heinrich Schliemann, Wilhelm Dörpfeld and Carl Blegen supplied a great amount of information about the architecture and other aspects of material culture of the Late Bronze Age at Troy, even at the time of Blegen's final publication in the 50s, it was not possible to fully understand Troy's role from a regional and interregional perspective. Only thanks to the progress in fieldwork, post-excavation evaluations and publications that have taken place during recent decades, at Troy itself but also along the whole western Anatolian coast and in its hinterland, from Maydos-Kilisetepe on the Gallipoli Peninsula in the north to Bodrum in the south, is it now possible to better understand Troy's position as a member of the western Anatolian socio-political and cultural landscape.
