Niuserre and Akhnaton : Old Kingdom Solar Inspiration for the Amarna Revolution
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Nowadays, after several decades of intensive interest in the profane life of the ancient Egyptians, there is a wealth of studies focusing on and evaluating both the mundane and sacred aspects of kingship and their mutual interdependence. Until recently, however, the prevailing opinion was that the sacred institution of kingship had very little to do with the profane world of the ancient Egyptians. As many texts and two- and three-dimensional representations of Old Kingdom rulers bore testimony to the divine king and his unique position in the state and society, there was only limited space for a multilateral approach that viewed the king as an integral part of the society. It is thanks to the systematic work of Mark Lehner, both in the field at Giza and his writings on ancient Egyptian society, that we can now fully comprehend both the profane and religious aspects of the Old Kingdom king.
