In 2019, the first ever presentation of the work of American artist Arthur Jafa took place in the Czech Republic.The exhibition at the prestigious Galerie Rudolfinum, after which the artist won the Golden Lion at the VeniceBiennale, provided a space for the recontextualisation of William Faulkner's fiction, which has been known toCzech readers since the 1930s, but its reflection has not received as much attention as abroad. The articleexplores the parallels between the shared techniques of the visual artist and the writer, taking into accountCentral European conceptions of regionalism.
