The RIGHTWARDS ARROW International Law Commission (ILC) (or 'Commission') is the RIGHTWARDS ARROW United Nations (UN) body which has for its object the promotion of the progressive development of international law and its codification (RIGHTWARDS ARROW Codification and Progressive Development of International Law). It consists of 34 independent experts elected by the United Nations General Assembly (RIGHTWARDS ARROW United Nations, General Assembly; 'UNGA' or 'General Assembly'). The ILC meets for annual sessions lasting ten to twelve weeks (in two parts) in Geneva. It prepares draft articles of future conventions or other outcomes (guidelines, principles, conclusions, or model rules). This entry aims to present both the past and current codification projects (topics) of the ILC that include, in full or in part, provisions on dispute settlements.
