Depuis 1990, le monastère de Vyšší Brod en République Tchèque est a nouveau occupé par la communauté cistercienne qui en avait été expulsée pendant près de 40 ans de communisme. La refondation de la vie monastique dans ses murs historiques requiert de réinsérer le monastère dans la société alors que chaque acteur, social et religieux, développe des attentes différentes. De son côté, la communauté tâche de réaffirmer le monastère comme lieu de vie religieuse cistercienne. En étudiant les différents niveaux de mémoire associés au monastère par différents groupes sociaux, nous explorerons les différents enjeux de la refondation d'une communauté monastique dans son environnement social.

In 1990 the Cistercian monastery of Vyšší Brod in Czech Republic saw again the monks in its walls after 40 years of their absence during communist times. The refoundation of the monastic life brought new negotiations about the position of the monastery in the society. The Cistercian community seeks to revive the place as the place of Cistercian spirituality. Exploring the different layers of memory related to the monastery we analyse the heterogenous aims in reasserting the monastery in its social environment.
