It reveals the fluidity of the Global North researcher identity, influenced by gender, class, race, education, and language skills. The authors conducted ethnographic research in Brazil and Colombia, underlining language&apos;s role in power relations. They emphasize the need for a more nuanced view of SfD research, transcending North/South binaries, valuing local knowledge, and challenging colonial dynamics. This study underscores the importance of local language proficiency, advocating for a more inclusive and reflexive approach to SfD research.
