Dieses Buch unternimmt nicht ein philosophisches Reden über Kunst, sondern es geht um die Frage, wie mit philosophischen Mitteln die philosophische Relevanz, die in Artefakten beschlossen ist, explizit werden kann. Die These ist daher, dass Artefakten als komplexen Dingen - deren Bestimmung über bloße Zweckdienlichkeit hinausgeht - ein Geflecht an philosophischen Strukturen innewohnt, die aufzudecken Aufgabe der philosophischen Analyse ist. Die These wird in einer Untersuchung bestimmter Artefakte aus unterschiedlichen Zeiten, Kulturen und Genres bewährt, wobei auch die me-thodischen Prinzipien solcher Untersuchung fixiert werden.

This book does not intend a philosophy that speaks about art in general. Rather it tries to make explicit the philosophical relevance of artefacts by philosophical means. Thus the main thesis says that artefacts as complex things - i.e. things beyond of serving practical purposes - do imply meshes of philosophical structures, and the task of philosophical analysis is to unveil them. On the one hand, this thesis will be verified by dealing with some concrete artefacts from different times, civilizations, and genres, while on the second hand the methodology of such analyzing will be fixed on the basis of the analysed works themselves.
