Dieser Beitrag unternimmt eine vergleichende Gegenüberstellung Meister Eckharts und Ueda Shizuterus. Ziel dieser Gegenüberstellung ist es, herauszuarbeiten, in welchen Aspekten des Denkens Uedas von einem formbildenden Einfluss Eckharts gesprochen werden kann. Die Untersuchung bewegt sich von den Quellen hin zum eigenen Denken Uedas. Sie beginnt mit der Darstellung von Uedas Eckhartrezeption, auf welche mit Nishida Kitarō und Nishitani Keiji die zwei für Ueda maßgeblichen Figuren der Kyoto-Schule besprochen werden. Uedas eigenes Denken wird entlang seiner Interpretation der )Ochsenbilder( aufgeschlüsselt und mit Eckhart in einen Dialog gebracht. In zwei abschließenden Schritten wird auf die Einstufung des Denkens Uedas als )phänomenologisch( eingegangen und ein Resümee gezogen.

This contribution develops a critical comparison of Meister Eckhart and Ueda Shizuteru. Its guiding aim is to discover aspects of Ueda's thinking which clearly exhibit a decisive Eckhartian influence. The contribution moves from a discussion of the sources of Ueda's thinking to the proper philosophy itself. It begins by elaborating Ueda's reception of Eckhart. This is followed by a brief summary of the two Kyoto-School figures which were crucial for Ueda's development; Nishida Kitarō and Nishitani Keiji. Ueda's interpretation of the )ox-herding pictures( opens the path towards the complex ways of his own thinking, which in turn are contrasted with Eckhart. This is followed by a brief discussion of Ueda as a phenomenologist. In a last step, a concluding summary is drawn.
