Der Studiengang &quot;Deutsche und französische Philosophie&quot; (DFP) der Karls-Universität Prag hat eine jährlich stattfindende Studierenden-Konferenz zum Leitthema &quot;Akutes Denken&quot; ins Leben gerufen. Das Unterthema der Pilotveranstaltung ist &quot;Der &apos;Neue Materialismus&apos; in Theorie und Praxis&quot;. Die Veranstaltung findet vom 11. bis 13. Oktober 2024 in deutscher Sprache am Campus der Fakultät für Humanwissenschaften (FHS) statt und ist für Studierende der FHS offen. Teilnehmende sind Studierende und Lehrende der Uni Prag, Kiel und Wuppertal.Das Format: Unter dem Banner &quot;Akutes Denken&quot; wird jährlich ein neues, akademisch wie gesellschaft-lich relevantes Unterthema für die im nächsten Jahr anstehende Andere-Konferenz bestimmt. Universitäten aus ganz Europa können sich daraufhin um eine Teilnahme bewerben, maximal vier können teilnehmen. Zwei Semester (ein Jahr) bevor die Konferenz in Prag stattfindet, gründen sich an jeder mitwirkenden Universität Lesekreise zu je maximal acht Studierenden und zwei Lehrenden, zum Beispiel im Rahmen eines Forschungs- oder Übungsseminars. Im Laufe des Jahres bis zur Konferenz erarbeitet sich jeder Lesekreis je einen spezifischen Zugang (über Disziplinen, Theorien, Autor:innen) zum angekündigten Unterthema. Nach Ablauf des Forschungsjahres (zwei Semester) reisen die Lesekreise nach Prag, um ihre Ergebnisse zu teilen. Diese werden bei der dreitätigen Studierenden-Konferenz in Prag den anderen Lesekreisen vorgestellt und anschließend kritisch diskutiert. Mittels diverser Formate werden die Resultate der Lesekreise diskursiv zusammengeführt und von Keynote-Vorträgen abgerundet.Die Grundidee: Hauptvorteil dieses zeitlich gestreckten Formats ist eine besonders nachhaltige Auseinandersetzung mit einem umfänglichen Themenkomplex, der in regulären Summer Schools oder bei anderen Konferenzformaten so nicht möglich ist. Studierende und Lehrende werden dabei nicht nur zu Expert:innen zu bestimmten Themen und können auf diese Art und Weise ihre Interessen vertiefen, sie stellen sich darüber hinaus auch der Aufgabe, geisteswissenschaftliche Forschung auf aktuelle Herausforderungen gesellschaftlicher Praxis anzuwenden zu lernen. Neben der intensiven Theorie-vermittlung ist daher ein weiteres wichtiges Ziel die Herausbildung der studentischen Kompetenz zu fachlicher und mündiger Intervention in etwaige wissenschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Diskurse.Das Projekt legt dabei besonderen Wert auf die Diversität der Teilnehmenden und Pluralität ihrer Themen sowie ihre akademische Enkulturation. Studierende und Lehrende sollen auf Augenhöhe und kollaborativ voneinander lernen können: Die interaktive Heranführung der Studierenden an Formate, Methoden und Inhalte wissenschaftlicher Forschung sowie an den Habitus in Academia steht dabei im Vordergrund, gleichzeitig wird arrivierten Akademiker:innen aber die Möglichkeit geboten, einen ungefilterten Einblick davon zu bekommen, welche gesellschaftlichen Themen und wissenschaftlichen Fragen den akademischen Nachwuchs umtreiben.Mit Prag als zentraleuropäischem Scharnier kulturellen Austausches zwischen West- und Osteuropa liegt ein besonderes Augenmerk des Projekts außerdem auf der Stärkung der Rolle der Karls-Universität Prag als wichtige internationale Drehscheibe für wissenschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Zusammenarbeit.

The &quot;German and French Philosophy&quot; program (DFP) at Charles University Prague has launched an annual student conference on the central theme of &quot;Acute Thinking&quot;. The sub-theme of the pilot event is &quot;New Materialism in Theory and Practice&quot;. The event takes place October 11th to 13th 2024 at Faculty of Humanities (FHS) campus and will be open to students from FHS. The participants will be students and scholars from the universities of Prague, Kiel (DE) and Wuppertal (DE). The event will be held in German.About the format: Under the banner of &quot;Acute Thinking&quot;, each year a new - and preferably academically and socially highly relevant - sub-topic is chosen for the next student conference. Universities from all over Europe can then apply; a maximum of four can participate. Two semesters (one year) before the conference takes place in Prague, reading groups of a maximum of eight students and two teachers are formed at each participating university, for example as part of a research or practice seminar. In the course of the year leading up to the conference, each reading group will develop a specific approach (disciplines, theories, authors) to the announced sub-topic. At the end of the research year (two semesters), the reading groups will travel to Prague to present their findings. At the three-day student conference these results are shared with the other reading groups and then critically discussed. Using various formats and methods, the results of the reading groups are brought together in a discursive manner to be rounded off with keynote speeches.About the idea: The main advantage of this extended format is a particularly sustained and deep engagement with a set range of topics, which is not possible in regular summer schools or other conference formats. Lecturers and especially students not only become experts on specific themes and can deepen their interests in this way, they also learn how to apply academic methods and theories on current challenges posed by social practice. Not only will this process result in a very intensive instruction in theory, it is also supposed to develop students&apos; competence to intervene professionally and maturely in a variety of academic and social discourses.The project places particular emphasis on the diversity of the participants and their topics as well as their academic enculturation. Students and lecturers are enabled to learn collaboratively from each other: The main goal is to introduce students interactively to formats, methods and content of scientific research as well as to the habitus in academia. At the same time established academics are offered the opportunity to find out which social issues and scientific questions drive young academics.
