The article discusses the contemporary phenomenon of Ukrainians writing &quot;russia&quot; with a lowercase letter in response to Russia&apos;s invasion of Ukraine. This act is seen as a form of renaming, embodying mythological consciousness. The article delves into the evolution of capitalization in Latin and Cyrillic scripts, tracing its transition from functional to semiotic significance. Drawing on the theory of myth by Juri Lotman and Boris Uspensky, the study argues that the special perception of lowercase proper names stems from a mythological consciousness.
