In my chapter, I will argue that, despite all possible historical-critical reservations, the well-known medieval story of St. Augustine&apos;s encounter with the child on the seashore has a reasonable ground in the prologue of the De Trinitate itself, and that it is this reasonable ground that opens the speculative way to a theological revision of the Aristotelian doctrine of the categories in V.-VII. book of De Trinitate, and thus precisely to a Trinitarian ontology that avoids the greatest philosophical temptation of hypostatizing being as an absolute self-generating eidetic potentiality over and apart of Triune Creator and his creation. I will then prove that just such a Trinitarian ontology can be found in Klaus Hemmerle&apos;s Theses Towards a Trinitarian Ontology (1976).
