The present study explores the issue of reception of Athanasius' thought among the Slavs by looking at five major writings and their transmission in specific theological contexts. The first two works include Athanasius' most important polemical writing Orations against the Arians and his famous hagiographic work Life of Antony. The other three include the pseudo-Athanasian works circulating in Poland, Serbia, and Russia, and all five of these writings are used as an example of the way theological contexts and specific concerns shaped the Athanasian image in the Slavonic tradition.
