Quarrying/mining leaves indelible traces that receive variable acceptance from the public. Past, mostly abandoned quarries/mines are often protected either due to providing living habitat to rare and/or endangered species of fauna and flora, or due to exposing otherwise inaccessible geological, palaeontological, mineralogical or morphological features. In contracts, recent quarrying activities must include end use plans and reclamation strategies which generally mean return of the quarry site to the original use. As a consequence, geological value of the site can be thus lost.
